In Reading on 25 February in ...

The wettest February day on record (29.2 mm) and the second of two consecutive days recording over 25 mm of precipitation; sleet and rain continued to fall for much of the day.
One of the lowest February dew points at 0900 GMT on record (-11 C) following one of the coldest February nights on record (the minimum temperature was -12.2 C). After a bright start it was dull for the rest of the day. February 1947 was the coldest February in the Reading record.
The lowest 0900 GMT pressure reading for any month occurred today - 962.4 mb. By midnight the MSL pressure had fallen below 955 mb over parts of East Anglia. As the winds turned N'ly at Reading in the evening, rain turned to snow.
