1852
Heavy rains which have continued for more than two months produced widespread destruction and loss of life. Reading and other local towns and villages were inundated; the traffic on the Great Western Railway, and its branches was interrupted in many places.
1923
The coldest November day on record, with the maximum temperature remaining below freezing at -1.9 C. Freezing fog persisted all day. Winds were light and pressure high.
