Summary
Data from the APE model intercomparison are archived at the University of Reading. The archive comprises two classes of data, the original Standard Diagnostics for the eight SST experiments and Additional Transient Diagnostics for the CONTROL experiment only. Each class of data comprises a number of files, whose content and format are described on the diagnostics page.
Links are provided in tables below to download individual files in the data archive. Alternatively, wget may be used to transfer multiple files. It is not possible to transfer data from Reading by FTP.
The larger Additional Transient Diagnostics files are also archived in Japan. Please contact the AGU group to obtain a copy of these data. This page at Reading for quality-controlled APE data supercedes that at PCMDI, now removed, which contained an earlier subset.
The APE data archive was made public in 2011, in anticipation of results of the model intercomparison published in a Special Issue of the Journal of the Meteorological Society of Japan in 2013.
Data for the Multi-Model Mean and inter-model standard deviation were added later for a subset of the Standard Diagnostics (see end of the table below). These data were used in the APE Atlas and intercomparison papers.
Standard DiagnosticsThe original standard diagnostics submitted by each modelling group are summarised in the following table. Each table cell contains the APE standard diagnostic files for a single model experiment, colour coded as follows:
Blue for quality controlled data; Orange for non-quality controlled data; Gray for missing data.
Quality Control information, including known data problems (scaling etc). Additional information is provided for individual models in the Model/Expt column.

Data from idealised GCMs, which include simpler physical parameterisations than the GCMs above, are shown separately in the table below. These models are not included in the model intercomparison documented in the APE Atlas and papers in the APE Special Issue of J. Met Soc. Japan.

Additional Transient DiagnosticsAdditional transient diagnostics were submitted for the CONTROL experiment by a subset of the modelling groups.
The groups and files are summarised in the following table, including a documentation file for each model.
Additional diagnostics are available for some models - see the documentation files. These large files are also archived in Japan. Please contact the AGU group to obtain a copy of their data.
