I am a postdoctoral researcher here in the Department of Meteorology at the University of Reading. I work with Dr Mat Owens and Dr Chris Scott on a project that aims to use the observations from the Heliospheric Imagers (HI) aboard the twin STEREO satellites to help derive improved boundary conditions for numerical models of the solar wind (such as ENLIL). Recently I have been working in partnership with Solar Stormwatch to produce a catalogue of Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) observed and characterised in the HI images by thousands of citizen scientists; the resulting catalogue is available here. I am also interested in extreme space weather events, in particular large solar energetic particle events, and reconstructions of solar activity outside of the space age. For more information please see my current research and past research pages. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
