• Hybrid needs to be properly coupled to ocean
• We need to evaluate model for a long coupled run, i.e. >50 years

If it works, what are its uses?

• It makes chemistry with high resolution dynamics possible for long runs.
• At low resolution, UKESM1-hybrid will be faster than UKESM1
• A vehicle for testing the importance of resolution on different bits of science, e.g.
  • Move radiation to Jnr
  • Remove stratosphere from Snr
