Multiple Doppler Radar Winds

As part of the WOEST / WesCon project, I am using 5 weather radars positioned in the Wessex region of England during summer 2023 to derive a 3D wind structure over the region to help with forecasting convective rainfalll and thundestorms.

Satellite Rainfall retrievals

I have been working on improving the global precipitation estimates, which are only available from space-borne radar. We have developed 2 simple methods to use the CloudSat (that will also be applicable to EarthCARE and potentially WIVERN) and studied the current methods and are deriving a new best estimate, hoping to remove the biases that can be induced by assumptions that are do not hold in all conditions. You can see a poster I took to ERAD 2024 in Rome here.
