Useful Weather Links

The pages listed here will point you in the direction of a few of my favourite websites that I enjoy looking at routinely. They tend to be focussed on actual and predicted weather, and more often than not, on the Tropics!

  • The Department's web site at Reading has lots of information on what goes on in the Department, including data from its weather station, information on its research and links to many other websites in the meteorological world.
  • In addition, weekly Weather and Climate Discussions are held in the department, to discuss a wide range of topics covering all areas of meteorology. Usually, these include a discussion of the past week's weather (from both here and around the world), talks on topical events as well as a look at the latest forecasts from both the Met Office and the ECMWF.

  • Our professional body in the U.K. is The Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS), based in Reading. The RMetS provides educational material, organises meetings and publishes journals, including the magazine Weather. You can become an associate member and receive your own copy of Weather for modest fees!
