Sunrise and Sunset Times

The Sunrise and Sunset times have been calculated by running a simple model of the Earth-Sun system. The Earth is assumed to follow a 'one-body' Kepler orbit. The times shown correspond to the transit of the centre of the Sun through the horizon, and have not been adjusted for atmospheric refraction.

Refraction of the Sun's light as it passes through the atmosphere will cause the Sun to look higher in the sky than it actually is. Refraction has its greatest effect close to the horizon and will slightly extend the length of the day to that shown. Please allow an additional 5-10 mins of daylight at each end of the day!
