A posteriori diagnostics
Abstract:
Different "a posteriori diagnostics" of data assimilation systems have been proposed so far. An overview of these diagnostics will be given in the presentation.
The possibility offered by such diagnostics to evaluate the optimality of data assimilation schemes will in particular be discussed.
A crucial question, which will also be debated, is to see how a posteriori diagnostics can be used to optimize observation, background or even model error covariances.
