Decor: Large turquoise panelling, tasteful dark wood and a
water feature - very pleasant.
Music: Indian with a beat - "Bangra Acid"
Time to get served: OK, not long.
- Amazingly colourful pictures of the dishes with a description of a
tandoor etc. Sample description: Dal Bukhara: "a harmonious
combination of black lentil, tomatoes, ginger & garlic, simmered
overnight, finishing with unsalted butter".
Popadums and chutneys: "Spicy popadoms: best I've had in a long
time" (Challinor). Three dips: yoghurt, chutney and onion.
Lime pickle: We had to ask for it especially - quite nice
although fairly mainstream.
Onion bagees: Fulfilling, but floury paste binding the onion
together not quite cooked.

Too drunk to remember |
Our last visit was a great
experience, with everyone sampling the fantastic "curry festival"
buffet - on that occasion we didn't award the full 5 cobras just
because we hadn't sampled any of their "normal" dishes. Well now we
have and it clearly surpassed our expectations, so we are proud to
award the 5-Cobra Ring Stinger award, only the second awardee
of this acolade so far (the first being the Garden of Gulab). Shame its in the distant
Caversham Quadrant, but definitely well worth the trek.
