IN last week's Magazine (page 31), Dr Paul Williams was quoted as saying: "Within 10 years, I think we'll see a model that predicts the weather and climate change exactly." Dr Williams states: "I said nothing of the sort. To be quoted as having said this is hugely damaging to my professional academic reputation. What I actually said in the interview is that the top priority in weather and climate science for the next 10 years is to reduce uncertainty in model predictions."
