About Me

I am a senior research scientist at the Department of Meteorology, University of Reading and part of the National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS) under the Atmospheric Physics directorate. In Reading, I am a member of Mesoscale Group and the Dynamical Processes Group.

My research is centred around the mid-latitude weather currently exploring the role of heating processes in summer cyclones and systematic error in numerical weather prediction models.

Previously, as part of the FRANC (Forecasting Rainfall exploiting new data Assimilation techniques and Novel observations of Convection) project, producing improved data assimilation methods for the assimilation of moisture in convective-scale models.

As part of the DIAMET (DIAbatic influence on Mesoscale structures in ExTratropical storms) project, I looked into several mesoscale aspects of mid-latitude weather systems, including the representation of convection in numerical weather prediction models. I am also interested in the development of sting jets and the connection between them and the presence of conditional symmetric instability at mid-tropospheric levels.

Before working on mesoscale meteorology, I worked, during my DPhil, on extraterrestrial atmospheres and the hypothesis of low dimensional atmospheric dynamics and the mechanisms that lead to planet-encircling dust storms on Mars.
