I'm a lecturer in the Department of Meteorology at the University of Reading. My research aims to improve the understanding of clouds, particularly those that are created and/or influenced by complex terrain. These clouds often form at scales that fall below the operational resolution of most Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) models. Their effects are either parameterized or neglected completely in these models, which introduces error into their forecasts. My research aims to understand the dynamics/microphysics of cloud formation and evolution so that weather and climate forecasts may be improved.
