The 1998 Cloud Lidar and Radar Experiment (CLARE'98)

CLARE'98 (funded by the European Space Agency), took place at Chilbolton between the 5th and the 23rd of October 1998 and involved three aircraft and a large array of active and passive ground-based instruments. A data archive has been set up here:

The campaign was very successful, with seven flights taking place in total, and the full range of clouds being sampled: stratocumulus, cirrus and mixed-phase. Much work is still in progress using the data.
