List of current sub-projects for the 2UM project

• We/I should talk to Tom Allen about ENDGame dynamical core and 2UMs - in paticular, any ideas on why we seem to need to couple surface Exner function. He was busy, but made some suggestions in e-mail on 3 Dec 2016
• Determine where W and ETADOT cease being noisy in middle levels
  • Understand why, and is there anything we can do about it.
  I was passing the orography too late - looks to be fixed now. However, all the issues connected with Jnr levels not matching the Snr levels are still relevant and should be looked at.
• Couple ocean (Richard working on this)
• Create 2UM job running with one Rose app.
  • After this, it should be over to Rose team
  Done, but STASH menu options are unavailable. Another 2 app suggestion has been suggested. Done, and I like new this option. Restart works for one thing.
• Find the problem with dump file at 15 days. Problem is with meaning UKCA fields. I've not found out entirely why yet.
• Get restart of 2UMs working. Done. It works with the latest rose submission option.
• Work out how to add fields to section 34 (when moving UKCA_ACTIVATE, or any other process between Snr and Jnr, we'll need fields in dump if we're to do a proper restart)
  • Will need a skeleton UKCA_MAIN1 to call UKCA_ACTIVATE in Snr
• Allow coupling frequency to vary - maybe add in Richard's branch Done
• Add in flag for fields going from Snr->Jnr, e.g. l_Uvel. Done
  • After this, maybe I need to couple at start - for NRUN - every 15 mins while Jnr adjusts to Snr fields, before running CRUN where we couple every hour and set l_Ex_s to false.
