Ed Hawkins
Research interests

• Decadal variability in climate, especially in the Atlantic region

• Decadal predictability and prediction of climate - particularly identifying optimal regions for ocean observations to improve climate predictions

• Quantifying the different sources of uncertainty in climate predictions

Recent Highlights

• Press release: "Targeted investments in climate science could present enormous economic savings for the UK and Europe". Followed up at Nature Reports Climate Change and realclimate.org.

• What are the largest sources of uncertainty in temperature predictions on regional scales? Interactive website released, based on published paper

• Where should we observe the Atlantic Ocean to optimally improve climate predictions? Paper published to answer this question in a GCM (HadCM3).

• New Scientist publish article on the potential predictability of rapid changes in the overturning circulation - based on our recent paper
