DARC: Data Assimilation Research Centre

at the University of Reading

The Data Assimilation group is spread across the Department of Meteorology and the Department of Mathematics in the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences.

We work on data assimilation theory and applications in all areas of the geosciences, including meteorology, atmospheric chemistry, oceanography, land surface, coastal sediment transport, and space. We also work on data-assimilation related fields, like observation impact measures, and model improvement through data asimilation. The later is becoming a particularly active field of research as data-assimilation methodlogies have advanced. It is expected that data-assimilation will become an integral part of model development in the future.
