Hi Everyone,

An enormous thank you to all the cast and crew and everyone else involved in the first fully live Panto for a few years. Many thanks to Caleb and Jen for leading the coordination of the event. It’s amazing that we have so many talented and creative people in the department. And it was really lovely to see so many staff and students, friends and family, in the audience.

This year we were treated to a fantastical tale of Rapunzel trying to escape Lyle Tower and the clutches of the devious radar group, led by evil Chris Westbrook, to let her HAIR device fly up and away on a radiosonde. With just a little help she made it through the wilderness to find her supervisor, King Professor Sir Brian Hoskins, phew! With dazzling performances, songs, and hair-larious puns the show was a great success - well done to all!

Thanks to Jon Shonk for another highly entertaining Mr Mets in Happy Met Land’s Buildingy McBuildingface. There was a convincing winner(s) for the best biscuit (jammy dodgers every time) and the staff were honoured to be joined in their interval song by the King Professor himself, with a rocking bit of air guitar/ukulele by Professor Shine. Many thanks to Bob and Keith for corralling the staff on that one.

The after-party was just getting going when I left, but I’ve been told everything went smoothly and everyone danced the night away without any incident forms having to be completed. Thank you to Wendy and John for first aid duty, and to John again for staying until the end on that front. Thank you all for the mammoth tidy up at the end. Thanks to Dana and the admin staff for supporting with the buildings access and forms, and thanks to ACP for getting H&S sorted so we could have the buffet, as is a longstanding Met tradition.

It’s just left to say happy holidays – and may all your dreams come true this Christmas!

Magical wishes to all,

Your friendly department fairy godmother
