Dear All
I always like a bit of a gamble early on a Friday morning so I’m ready to spin the wheel on when this e-mail might arrive and add to the spam in your inbox….
Many thanks to everyone involved in the production and arrangements for our 28th panto last night. As usual, arriving in the department this morning it’s a bit hard to believe that DJ Shonk (and
presumably many others) were doing their thing in the coffee room till late last night. Particular hat tips of course to the suave Captain Bellouin and the frighteningly convincing Greta Thunberg (who obviously has teleported, carbon-free, back to Madrid).
My personal favourite joke being the quite brilliant narrator (intentionally) consulting his script for the “oh no he isn’t” line.
Other early exiting polling:
“Well, that was one of the most surreal pantos I’ve ever seen” – unnamed academic (XX)
“That was the best panto ever” – Christopher Charlton-Perez (7)
So, I suppose that goes to show, you can’t please any of the people some of the time, or words to that effect.
A fantastic day in the department yesterday with our graduation and panto, and I’m really looking forward to carols and mince pies today. Thanks especially to Dawn Turner, Nicki Robinson and all the members
of the admin team for their hard work in making sure all of these events run smoothly every year.
I’m off to feed the climate zebra and to shout at some post-docs (unconvincingly)
#playyournotes
Andrew (on behalf of Bob and Sue)
