GROund coupled heat pumps MITigation potential: a NERC-funded research project that aims to study the mitigation potential of horizontal ground coupled heat pumps (GCHPs) for current and future UK climatic conditions. The project will make use of computer modelling and experimental studies. It involves researchers from the University of Reading, the University of Nottingham, the British Geological Survey and the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology.

We are urgently looking for people (individuals, companies, schools etc.) who are planning to install a horizontal GCHP in the (near) future. We would really like to hear from you if you would be prepared to have some meteorological and soil sensors placed near your installation. This would provide us with invaluable data (and you can have access to them, if you are interested) to test our soil-GCHP computer model. Please contact Anne Verhoef to discuss.
