Research Interests:

  • Earth observation and applications
  • Climate servives
  • Informatics - data exploration and visualization
  • Data assimilation

Current Research Projects:

  • Maximising exploitation of linked open data in enterprise and science : MELODIES will develop innovative and sustainable services combining Earth Observation with other open data sources to produce new information for the benefit of scientists, industry, government decision-makers, public service providers and citizens.
  • A Climate Impacts Platform for Copernicus: CLIPC is developing a "one stop shop" for climate impacts information for Europe.
  • An open data portal for ESA's Climate Change Initiative

Previous Research Projects:

  • Characterisation of metadata to enable high-quality climate applications and services : The CHARMe project is developing a platform-neutral information service for climate data, allowing users to view or create annotations that describe how climate data has been used and what has been learned. Code is available at the CHARMe github site.
  • Greenhouse Gas Emission Measurement Service : GHG EMS is a collaborative project with Astrium services developing a commercial service for monitoring greenhouse gas emissions using state-of-the-art data assimilation and Earth observation techniques.
  • The facility for Climate and Environmental Monitoring from Space : CEMS is a purpose-built facility offering space-based climate change and EO data and services.
  • Interactive visual analysis of 4-Dimensional fields, processes & dynamics : IVA4D is an ESA project looking at how we can provide visualisation tools to explore and analyse data interactively.

Postdoctoral & graduate student supervision
