Research Interests:

  • Global climate variability.
  • Radiative Forcing of greenhouse gases and radiative transfer theory.
  • Remote Sensing of the Atmosphere: trace gases, mineral dust and precipitation.
  • Online climate models: land surface modelling and precipitation parameterization.
  • Hydrometeorology: particularly in situ measurements of precipitation.
  • Statistical Physics: its applications in Meteorology.

Research Projects:

  • SMURPHS(Securing Multidisciplinary UndeRstanding and Prediction of Hiatus and Surge events): Decadal variations in the rate of global surface warming (like hiatus and surge events) are multifaceted. The goal of the research is to understand much more fully how all the contributing factors can explain past hiatus and surge (H/S) events, and so to help improve predictions of future climate change over the coming decades and far into the future.
  • Additional participation in projects like CAMS-Radiative Forcing, SPARC and CCMI.
  • Beyond my collaboration on these projects with the University of Readng, my current affiliation is the Laboratoire des Sciences du Climat et de l'Environnement where I am working in CRESCENDO project with Yves Balkanski.
