North

North facing view Looking due N from the camera location the green roof of Wessex Hall can be seen in the distance just to the right of the image centre. The guyed mast in the foreground of the image extends upward to a total height of 10m above ground level to support our tower instruments.

Tower instruments

Tower Instruments Looking up and due N from the camera location our wind instruments can clearly be seen atop the instrument tower. The Vector Instruments cup anemometer and wind vane are mounted on the arm on the left of the image - note that the current wind direction can be determined by observing the wind vane! A Gill Solent 4Hz sonic anemometer can be seen centre of the image.

East

East facing view Looking due E from the camera location, the eastern boundary of the Observatory with its 3 huts can be seen toward the bottom of the image.

Observatory site

Atmospheric Observatory Looking approximately SE down onto the Atmospheric Observatory the majority of the site can be seen. The entrance gate can be seen centre of the image and the old and new instrument posts on which are mounted the majority of our solar radiation and temperature sensors can be seen adjacent to the main path running diagonally through the image.

South

South facing view Looking due S from the camera location the Meteorology Department can be seen, approximately 600m distant, to the left centre of the image. The foreground building on the left is the edge of the IFR building.
