Overview

These pages show current stratospheric conditions in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres for the past 10 days. The data is produced by the Met Office and is obtained from the British Atmospheric Data Centre

This page shows polar stereographic projections of temperature and geopotential height fields in the upper, middle and lower stratosphere. The initial plot on the page shows yesterdays stratospheric conditions (the most recently available data). By using the buttons an animation of the previous 10 days can be seen.

Use the buttons on the left of the page to navigate around the site for current plots of zonal mean diagnostics and equatorial winds. For previous users of the site note that this version is new and use data from a different Met Office dataset than that used previously, some of the previous functions are no longer available.
