Vertical Profiles of radar Doppler spectra - coded and uncoded

Two plots are shown here -
1. Radar spectra using pulse coding for improved sensitivity - note that in strong reflectivity gradients the coding can produce artifacts;
2. Uncoded spectra for comparison: less sensitive to clouds with low Z, but no artifacts.

These plots are updated once every hour.

These images are generated every 60 minutes from data recorded by the 35-GHz cloud radar at Chilbolton, using programs written by Owain Davies, Robin Hogan, Darcy Ladd and Gareth Davies. For more information contact Robin Hogan.
