Entry requirements
MSc/Diploma Atmosphere, Ocean and Climate
Prior knowledge of meteorology is not necessary. A 1st or 2nd class degree in physics, mathematics or a closely related subject is required. Admission to the Diploma may be possible with slightly lower qualifications. Students with other qualifications may be admitted subject to a satisfactory performance in a preparatory (ad hoc) programme in the preceding year.
MSc/Diploma Applied Meteorology
Prior knowledge of meteorology is not necessary. The normal requirement for the programme is a good honours degree in a physical, environmental or engineering science. `A' level physics and/or mathematics or their equivalent may also be required depending on the content of the undergraduate programme. Students with other qualifications may be admitted subject to a satisfactory performance in a preparatory (ad hoc) programme in the preceding year.
MSc Applied Meteorology and Climate with Management
Prior knowledge of meteorology is possessed by candidates for this programme, because it is aimed exclusively at overseas candidates from least developed countries’ Weather Services. We require a good Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a pertinent subject and satisfactory evidence of English competency and funding. The degree is most commonly in mathematics, physics or a physical/environmental science.
MSc Data Assimilation and Inverse Methods in Geoscience
Students with a First or Upper second Class degree in Mathematics (or in a closely related subject joint with mathematics, or in a physical or environmental science with a strong mathematical content) and a keen eye for applications of mathematics in the geosciences are welcome to apply for the programme.
