FORMAT FOR UV-LIDAR DATA Each zipped file contains 1 *.dat file, each of which show 1 hour of data, recorded at approximately 30 second intervals. The name of the file is ddmmhhmm.dat, where dd is the day, mm is the month, hh and mm are the hours and minutes at which the file starts, e.g. 14101100 is from 14/10/98, beginning at 11:00 (ending at 12:00). The file header consists of 8 lines, the last of which is blank. These show... 1. The instrument 2. The date on which the data were recorded 3. The height of the first data point in km 4. The height of the last data point in km 5. The height spacing of the data points in km 6. The quantity recorded in the file 7. The units used for the data 8. Blank The data blocks then follow. These each have a 1 line header showing the time (UT) at which they were recorded. A *.gif file is provided for each day.
