METDAVS - Data Archive and Visualisation

Both raw and processed data are available from the METFiDAS system. Processed data, which has been scaled to give standard units of measurement for each of the logged and derived variables, are available on the WWW. Raw un-scaled voltage data, are available for post processing by request.

Available data and file formats

The entire set of data produced by the METDAS system comprises of:

Raw data:

  • 1Hz raw met data (288 files per day)
  • 1Hz raw research data (288 files per day)
  • 5 minute average raw met data (1 file per day)
  • 5 minute average raw research data (1 file per day)

Processed data:

  • 5 min average measured data (1 file per day)
  • 5 min derived data (1 filed per day)
  • Daily mean, max and min data (1 file per day)

All of the above files are in CSV, 'comma separated value' format, and may be loaded into all spreadsheet and database applications or text editors that support this format.

File naming convention

Each of the different files above has its own filename convention as follows:

1Hz raw met data yyyy>Mddd-hh_hh.raw

1Hz raw research data yyyyRddd-hh_hh.raw

5 minute average raw met datayyyyMddd.raw

5 minute average raw research data yyyyRddd.raw

5 min average measured data yyyyMddd.csv

Where:

yyyy is the 4 digit year ddd is the 3 digit year day hh_hh is the decimal time (hrs)
