About Me

I'm a postdoctoral researcher in the Meteorology department.

I'm particularly interested in:

  • Climate change and aviation, including how aviation impacts climate (particularly how the climate impact of flights might be reduced through climate-optimal routing) and how climate change might impact aviation.
  • The jet stream and large-scale weather patterns in the north Atlantic.
  • I have also previously researched the predictability of mid- and high-latitude weather systems and the use of targeted observations to improve forecasts of these systems

I'm currently Researcher Co-Investigator on the NERC-funded EXTRA (Extratropical Climate Change in the Upper Troposphere and the Routing of Aircraft) project.

I'm also a STEM ambassador . The outreach page lists some of my recent activities.

Some of the science behind the climate impact of flights is summarised in a blog post I wrote for the Meteorology Department blog .
