Do you need old copies of the data shown on these pages?

Please note that the data on these pages are available for general use - however an acknowledgement of the source would be appreciated in any publication to which they contribute.

The data are gathered as part of my hobby - not my job - and consequently I am limited in the amount of data that I can archive in perpetuity. Nor is there any guarantee that any archive will be kept indefinitely.

Consequently, should you think that you will need any of these data it is best to do the following:

  • Identify your requirements at the outset - before the data are produced.
  • Then, either, Download the data yourself in realtime - some data files are replaced with new versions every 3 hours, for example, or
  • Contact me and ask for (hopefully limited) amounts of data/files to be saved temporarily by me.

Don't contact me after the event and generally expect to be able to find copies of old data - current exceptions to this are 12-hourly surface analysis charts, 12-hourly UK/Ireland extreme temperature/rain.sunshine plots, and the basic information from decoded SYNOP reports.

In particular, many plotted charts are not kept in my archive, and many archives of text files are wiped out automatically at at the end of the month. Other text files are partially wiped out from time-to-time.

Finally, if there is anything that you think I could produce pertaining to UK observation data, but not, please let me know. I may be able to generate it quite easily.
